Use your cranium

That was the game we played Saturday night when my friends came over for my flat warming. What a great game for getting people to use all of their senses in order to mime, mould playdough and humm tunes. I was so bad at guessing the mimes, I could remember famous faces but their names were lost in my bonce somewhere. I was better at humming a tune, I think women tend to have a higher pitch so it was easier to pick up the tune. I also loved moulding the playdough- this could be a new fettish though as most things looked phallic!Humpty Dumpty and forming pigtails all prooved amusing- how are you supposed to mould a playground in 2 mins!.. it's a case of you'd had to have been there

Watching cavy and Adie immitate a computer virus was hilarious, they ended up doing mirror image impersonations without realising- iit looked semi-surreal almost dada. A game i'd recommend to anyone to liven up the evening.

It was great to unwind after rushing about in the day getting stufff over from folks, well a few picnic chairs and table, my flat is somewhat sofaless...ah well in time maybe...also I was a bit of a stress head, unfortunatley I have patience with my dad but bless him he over worries and goes on about things. I wish he could chill out more, i'm learning to.

More tales from the Playhouse, last night a bloke half my size failed to lift me up for a hanging scene (he was pretending to measure me up..nice... well I was standing in again for the actress and she's lighter than me, good job I wasn't too sensitive when cap man (that's what I call him) said there was no way he could lift me when he can't even lift the sleeker lady. I told him I could pick him up easily though, I could've done an Arnie and sent him into next week...atleast I didn't have to chase after him and his whirligiggs again!!!

Wislon's W's

I've been bestowed the glorious W by Stellalassy, here goes nothing;-

1) Wet I can be a bit of a wet drip at times

2) Water sign- I'm a fishy- pisces and I live up to most of their qualities, artsy fartsy, calming, sensitive, a bit wishy washy

3) Whoopee! - for obvious reasons

4) Watch and learn- I'm an observer

5) Wizzable Wislon- for all of my magical elements

6) Weird part 1- sometimes I can be alittle weird and other times i'm as ordinary as they come.

7) Weird part 2- for the characters I see on the streets, to common woman for hailing me and cavy common!

8) Woolly - for all of my sheepish warm, cuddlynesses

9) Wotnots- since moving i've realised I can't do minimal very well, I love my wotnots about me

10) Well rounded- physically and spiritually- I like to think i'm interested in heaps of things from art, theatre, films, people, religions, science, music, fashion, people again, languages, oh most things :>)

Have a good weekend

Come and have a go

Last night was a whole lot more fun at the theatre than Monday- hooray!

As one of the women actors didn't show I got to play her fiesty onvict role. The play is all about convicts who were sent over to Australia back in 1798 to start a new colony. Liz the character I played was up for hanging so her tough mentality and hard knock ways were fun to create. I got to crapple with a woman, cavy and go after a man's whirligiggs- well I'll leave that to you to guess what they are.

Breakfast at Wislon's

Gaawd I sounded depressed in my last entry so to cheer things up I'm going to have a soiree this weekend.

I'm thinking Breakfast at Tiffany's but alas I don't have the cat, the posh stand on its own hair do, a long cigarette holder, the eccentric Mickey Rooney neighbour (or maybe I haven't met him yet) andTiffany's,. Oh and the quick fire escape to visit my sauve young cad.

What I do have is some lurrvely friends and someone sauve :>)!! aaawwwww and some pringles!

Uptown girl

Well i've moved into my new abode, quite a change for me as i've left living with the parents at long last, not that I was there much anyway. I'm now an official towny, close to a few decent pubs and friends so that's great and to work too, no excuse now for being late in :>).

Neighbours seem ever so quiet, I think my flat was making the most noise at the weekend, with moving and Cavy practising his theatrics....lines for his next play.
I miss noise and really notice how quiet the flat and close is, i'll soon be moaning though if I have noisy neighbours.

My friend once had a psycho neighbour who played the same Janet Jackson song over and over every day! Was the choice of artist disturbing or the fact that he repeatedly played the same song?

Back on moving, i've heard it can be one of the most stressful things to do in life and I think my parents bore the brunt of my moody blues Saturday as they can be quite overbearing and over protective-but I really appreciate all that they've done for me and out up with. Unfortunately some of the stress came out last night after being at the Playhouse theatre. I find it hard to make my presence known there as I'm prompt and Prod Secretary for the current play and member of the group. I tend to be a listener, a quiet person in large groups and tend to be more of a mouse amongst the strong willful souls who go there to perform therefore I step further back into my shell. I get over sensitive and let small things cloud my judgement as I worry that'll offend someone if I become more out spoken and self confident. This has to change if I'm ever to make an impact at the theatre and in life in general afterall if it's my free time and voluntary, I should be enjoying it.

That old chestnut, it's never too late to change if you want to,
Onwards and sideways, sorry to grumble but feel better for unleashing more of the real wislon.

Sunshine on my shoulder

I thought i'd better get back on the blog..I haven't found a window until now..oooh that's a phrase that gets on my **** and I found myself saying it to a french friend the other day.
Ah well, QI was a great experience. Stephen Fry was his ever wittysome self and I do rather like Alan Davies's curly wurly tendrils :>) we managed to get there and back alright too. I think I should go in for raleigh driving with Cavy's mum!
The suinshine is getting the bods out, always nice to see people chilling out on the streets overspilling from pubs afterwork, gives me a summer glow and the thought of why am I not sipping the honey and vinos too but the theatre beckons.
I'm Prod Sec-ing and prompting for Our Country's Good, I hope it's going to be good, well the Cavy is in it whooping up his part no end!oh and the slightly exciting happening of my moving to a new abode soon is keeping me occupied. Hope the new neighbours will relish some harmonica playing which i've yet to start!!!!!!

Moody Maddy

I haven't had chance to get blogging recently, sorry I left you in mid air... so the hag do, well it wasn't much cop really as the Cavy didn't feel well and we were sat with the terrible two. So glad I had my friend Sarah next to me or else I'd have gone insane in the membrane. The sisters of the bride to be's groom were just annoying and rude, to us and the waiters..fffhh to them with knobs on :>) I don't like ignorant people and I certainly don't like enduring something and then to part with hard earned cash at all altogether rum do of a time. Roll on the next happy festivity...
Well atleast I enjoyed this weekend, we managed to make our legs take us up the steep Leckhampton Hill out of town. Great views, fresh air, sheep, cows and aching feet, what more could a girl want... Oh best not forget our search for the pub that wasn't to be. Due to mis-juduging the positioning of a handwritten pub roadsign we nearly walked for miles in the wrong direction until we decided to turn back and realised the pub was back down the hill from where we came from..dduuurrrgghhh didn't we laugh.

More audience exploits tomorrow, off to watch QI with cavy and family to see the man himself Stephen Fry in London tomorrow should be fun...to be continued

one, two, three and floor!

Thought this was sweet

A man and his wife are awakened at 3 o'clock in the morning by a loud
pounding on the door...
The man gets up and goes to the door where a drunken stranger,
standing
in the pouring rain, is asking for a push.
"Not a chance," says the husband, "It is three o'clock in the
morning."
He slams the door and returns to bed. "Who was that?" asked his wife.
"Just some drunk guy asking for a push," he answers.
"Did you help him?" she asks.
"Are you kidding? NO, I did not. It is three o'clock in the morning
and
it's pouring rain outside!!"
His wife said, "Can't you remember about three months ago when we
broke
down and those two guys helped us?
I think you should help him, and you should be ashamed of yourself!"
The man does as he is told (of course!), gets dressed and goes out
into
the pouring rain.
He calls out into the dark, "Hello! Are ! you still there?"
"Yes," comes back the answer.
"Do you still need a push?" calls out the husband.
"Yes! Please!" comes the reply from the darkness.
"Where are you?" asks the husband.
"Over here on the swing!!" replies the drunk.

Well after last weekend's high jinx and Cavy telly time! I'm looking forward to some chill out time. Well that's after the Hag do, tomorrow eve. A Hag do is a cross between hen and stag do where men are invited, as my friend is about to get wed. I'm wondering if the men are up for wearing 'Girls on tour' sashes and feather boas, knowing them they will be! I think the meal maybe somewhat less raucaus as two of my girlie friends are expecting so we need to take it easy :>)then again....

Thursday, April 13, 2006

I've started so i'll finish.

Well on my day off I thought i'd download a few pics of me with friends and the cavy but alas I can't seem to download using the library pc, I think my resolutions are too large and I just don't seem to have the right equipment... story of my life! ah well.
So tonight's the night Cavy hits the small screen in the UK on Mastermind with his abundance of Morse and general knowledge, I've a funny feeling i'll be laughing with him not at him of course ;->, I was the one afterall more nervous on the night than he was. But it's not everyday you see your fella on telly!
Looking forward to escaping this weekend to Ashby-de-la Zouch in the Midlands-sounds exotic doesn't it! Should be good as we're staying with friends so hopefully a few ales will be downed, alongwith a showing of play we were all involed with two years ago;- The King in Yellow,an odd play which I ended up Stage managing, basically more dramas happened backstage than you can shake a feather boa at on a hot summer eve!

Have a Happy Easter one and all!

Clarification

Miss Jay said...
I don't get it.

Sorry Jay I was a bit vague with the photo. Last week Cavy (orange he's been tangoed man)was in a play called The Son of Man, I was fortunate to take photos of the show although I didn't take this particular one and see the show a number of times. The gathered flock around Jesus were a friendly bunch.

anonymous.. yes I think that was a non-compliant jumpsuit, costumes ran out of decent Jesus follower gear so cavy had his own style to agitate in.- ps: are you Cavy's related other?

Torn- I know i'll be scanning pics left right and centre now

Obi- Alter Ego, Jesus does the beardy look very well ;) and so does the Cavy, alas it has since been removed.

I was off the planet yesterday, sorry off ill with a bad head cold but managed to go to my last part time English class, I shall miss it and the people. I have my moderation day tomorrow and the chance to say what I really think of the course and show off the buzz words I've learnt so far like drilliing (not of the teeth kind!) Looking forward to the fizz after!

Inner turmoils

Well here we are again. I'm sure weekends are speeding up. Friday I did front of house and firewatch for the Son of Man. What better way to spend a Friday night than seeing a show for free and being on guard in case sparks were to fly from the torches. Fortuantely I didn't need to spring into action.
It was an amazing play, hope it wins some awards. I know i'm biased as my other half was in it but still it was worthy of it's critique in the local rag.
A crowd of us went to see the last night too. I'm not a religious person but I'm interested in religions so it was a great play for inspiring people to talk about the play's meaning, the need to follow and why people need a faith. Dennis Potter who wrote the play had a way of unleashing a man's inner turmoils. The play portrayed Jesus and his struggle to accept that he was actually the son of god and couldn't just be a man with everyday thoughts and needs. I can see the links with Potter's Singing Detective, another character where a man is trapped within his own body through disease. How his sexual urges, needs to be human, interact with people and do everyday things as well as write are scuppered and taken for granted by the medics.

After all of the heavy seriousness of this play, we watched Woody Allen's Everything you needed to know about sex but was afraid to ask and a Bond, Octopussy, some light relief is what you need sometimes.

Lost in music

Well I've almost finished my Tesol- English course. Having to swot tonight for tomorrow's tests. I've spent seven interesting months discovering how to get over nerves whilst standing in front of people who actually seem like they want to learn and the fun sides of teaching. Not forgetting everything I wanted to know about grammar but was afraid to ask.

In between bouts of revision and washing my hair (that's about as exciting as my life gets at the moment unless i'm down at thePlayhouse theatre) i've tended to listen to a lot of 60's music. Nothing like belting out a Nancy Sinatra boot stomping classic and the Beatles, I think I was born in the wrong era.

Hot stuff!

Read this on the bookseller site this morning;-

The British Library's missing list

The British Library has revealed its missing list. The Guardian reports: "It is the alternative lending list: the books, maps and manuscripts that are so desirable they have been snatched from the shelves of the British Library." A Manchester City football programme from 1905, a Led Zeppelin CD and 17 Rolling Stones albums, including Hot Rocks and Beggars Banquet, are among 28 items confirmed as stolen from the collection in the last five years.
"While the thefts represent a tiny fraction of the 150m items in the library's possession, the stolen items are valued at £100,000, with a number of rare maps and illustrated plates ripped from antique books by international thieves. A single plate cut from a 1522 volume on Pompeii is worth £45,000."

The thieving scoundrels.

So we're looking for a Rolling Stones, Led Zeppy fan with a taste for the finer things in life who supports Manu.

Blogger up for non-fiction award

Thought this was worth blogging about ;-

'Riverbend' has been posting from Iraq since August 2003
An anonymous blog by a young woman in war-torn Iraq has been longlisted for BBC Four's Samuel Johnson Prize for non-fiction.
Baghdad Burning, a first-hand account written under the pseudonym Riverbend, is one of 19 books in contention.

Others include Alan Bennett's Untold Stories, a biography of 19th-Century cook and author Mrs Beeton and a study of post-war US-Soviet relations.

The winner of the £30,000 prize will be announced on 14 June.

Professor Robert Winston, chair of the judging panel, said this year's longlist contained "an exceptionally wide variety of genres".

"It looks as if finalising a shortlist is going to be excessively difficult," he said.

Previous winners of the prize include Like a Fiery Elephant, Jonathan Coe's biography of the author BS Johnson, and Stasiland, Anna Funder's chronicle of the hardships endured by people from the former East Germany.

This year's panel includes theatre director Sir Richard Eyre, columnist Cristina Odone and Michael Prodger, literary editor of the Sunday Telegraph.

Beardy menfolk!

I didn't mess up, phew most of the photos came out alright, i'm afraid I can't reveal the snaps at the moment as I used my automatic camera and all the snaps are at the theatre now. I've managed to display some outside of the theatre. I know it's crap not being able to show you them. You see I don't have a digital camera. That's something I need to get sometime seeing as I enjoy taking pics so much.

Is it a tricky process downloading pics on to your blog??? I'll need to make time to see how blog folks do it... and the downloading !! One day i'll get around to showing my face! .... maybe

For the moment i'll remain a mysterious Wislon

Oh and we saw Syriana at the new cineworld. The concrete block architecture holds about 12 screens. The best thing about the new cinema is the leg room! It reminded us of the kino-the Polish cinema in Bydgoszcz. Even the format of theslide show adverts were the same and it had a similar quiet atmosphere. I wonder if Cineworld is part of a European chain. Oh and the film was good but quite hard to follow. Poor Clooney, I didn't like to see him being tortured ;(

Which fillums have you seen lately?
