The joy of .... jumping to conclusions

Hooray it's Friday. Been a weird week.

Took Tuesday afternoon off work as a drink from the works machine left me feeling sickly.
Back in work and I was asked am I pregnat by one of my close colleagues. Just because nearly every other woman at my work place is pregnant or has had a alittle ankle bitter in the last year that now i'm a suspect for a bump.

It's funny the sort of things people will ask you just because they put two and two together.

This lunchtime I was browsing in HMV with a list in hand and a guy came up to me and asked if I worked there and where should he look for Rosanne. I said try comedy. This has happenend before but the fact that I was wearing a coat didn't give it away.

I have had a STRANGER ask me when I was due. How humiliating!!!

Well, I was wearing a very long, flowy shirt at the time, but still--- a social faux pas!!!!

How cheeky people are.(About asking about babies)
I was relieved to see the bit about shop assistants .In my life I have been asked about four times in different shops where a certain item was .Its always a day when I am wearing a coat and casual clothing, nothing like the shop's uniform.I just join in now and try and find the item if you do that they give up and say oh you don't work although the last one I had started telling me about a refund she wanted so I sent her to the front desk.I am convinced I have a happy to help badge on that only other people can see.

I think it's rude and completely insensitive in so many ways to ask a woman if she's pregnant. What an idiot!
I've never been mistaken for a shop assistant. Something else to worry about - do I look unapproachable??? At least I've never asked a woman if she's pregnant, not without knowing for sure that she is first.

Oh I've asked people if they were pregnant before and been mistaken. We're all taught to give up seats on public transit for pregnant women and I've read endless accounts FROM pregnant women complaining that they never get a seat - so yeah, I've made the wrong call and offered my seat to someone nonpregnant. it happens.

I love how you responded to the guy in HMV!
