I was fortunate to go for some pampering yesterday due to a gift voucher I had which needed to be used up. I took along one of my closest friends as she deserved some pamper time too. Not normally one for really girly activities as i'd never had a facial or or massage before I'd now say i'm a convert to being pampered. Accept for arriving in the luxurious health spa of the Hilton Hotel and coming away with not only beauty advice but medical health scares too.
The beautician of about 21 was quick to tell me whilst she was kneading and feeling my face that I definately had combination skin, she announced things like ooh I think that's a dry patch, oh we need to do something about that nose, ohhh I can feel some break outs coming on and you may have slight high blood pressure!!
So after the health shocks that I hadn't contemplated receiving I settled into actually enjoying the experience. Many lotions of extortionate prices were used and more handy tips on daily flannel use descended on me.
Best bits of the whole experience were nearly falling asleep into a facial slumber, sat enjoying the jacuzzi bubbles and pretending we lived this life style alll the time.
Worst bits were feeling that we couldn't breathe in the sauna and steam rooms! How do people enjoy these rooms?

The sleeping sounds good... They say you have to suffer in the cause of beauty, but that's not a cause I've ever espoused personally. There's already too much unavoidable suffering to contend with, not to mention too much else to do. But I'm sure it was fun to experience - once.
Thank you for your interest in the editing process of my book. It's all new so I don't really know much about it but here's how it's working so far. My publisher gave a copy of my draft to the editor so she's already had a look at the story.
I've just handed my complete updated draft to the editor who's going to email me her suggestions. In the meantime, as a result of our meeting, I added a couple of chapters which I've posted to her.
So far she suggested I alter the balance of the book slightly. I've been far too interested in the criminals (villains are such fun to write!!)and need to bump up the interest in my police officer who's the character the series follows. Makes perfect sense to me.
Apart from being lovely, the editor is very experienced and I feel confident in her judgement. She did however take pains to stress that I don't have to agree with any of her suggestions. It's my book.
How does all that sound to you?
Let me know what you think.
Pampering sounds nice apart from the diagnosis how rude.
I used to get asked for a light but I have never smoked I had forgotten about that, thats stopped about 10 years ago.
Linked to your blog cos its interesting and a bit different.
They might still be running that competition at borntoloaf, if not there will be a daily competition on.Family are already asking for pens and a few other things will be going their way ( frisbee golf stuff).
Kinda sounds painful, lol. So did you buy any of the products they were peddling?
Leigh thanks for all of the useful editing info. Sounds like your editor is good at giving supportive advice and allowing for your creativeness not to be quashed!
Thanks fizzy!
Wish I had the money Torn to splash out on such amazingly expensive products:>)
I'm with you--- I cannot tolerate steam rooms/saunas. I cannot stand being that hot!! And the humid air makes me feel as though I am suffocating.
But I like all the other treatments! Good for you! :)
I love sauna/steam rooms, but I can understand why people would hate them. I'm glad you had a chance to treat yourself and that was amazingly generous of you to take a friend.
I don't like saunas either. And sometimes a massage can give me a headache. I have to be very careful to drink loads of water before and after. But it is nice to be pampered!
The facial massage gave me a head ache!! I was off a day from work and i'm sure the facial had something to do with it, I think chemicals/ toxins may have been stimualted...and I thought pampering was supposed to be a nice experience :>)
