we do it to ourselves

Hitting a busy spell again with work and play, literally a play being Closer. Tonight all four actors are required to do the first 3 scenes, so far all rehearsals have gone well and the group involved are bonding nicely.
I realised last night just how much I like finding imagery and ripping it up, all in the name of mood sheets;- trying to decipher each character's look. From confident dominant alpha male to stripper come waitress, if you've seen the film you'll know what I mean if not come on over as we're running March 21-24th.

Also on the creative front, am pleased with my mask creation for the work's venetian do this Friday, feeling nervous about the event as i'm becoming more shy these days but i'm sure it'll be fine n dandy. Any excuse to display a bit of glitter and I'm there! The mask would blend in nicely to a Scissor Sisters or Kylie spandangled set.

How did the two of you get involved in the theater thing? I think that'd be so much fun.

Cavy was involved since he was 11 and started with the Childrens/ Youth theatre, I happened to say I wanted to something creative and would love to design posters and it all kicked off from there about 8 years ago. I stayed behind the scenes making props and assisting with the crew for alot of the time. My one major stab at acting was playing a cop in a girls version of the Odd Couple in 2004. Not sure if it really works for women to play but it was a great experience at the time. My theatre involvement has continued and I'm now Producer for Closer and get alot more say in it's development which is great confidence building for me and a good team to work with. So if you're interested maybe there is a local theatre near you which you could help out with, as you probably know theatre's are a community in themselves.

Sounds like the kind of hard work that's really fun.
