Gambler!

Today's the day either the Millenium dome or Blackpool gets it; a mega sized casino.
Unemployment and less people venturing to cheesy Blackpool is their argument for it. Tower Hamletts and Greenwich in London are also suffering from degredation and low levels of employment so those areas near the dome want the casino to pull in the mega bucks to improve neighbouring areas- yeah right- it'll be the casino owners and millionares who'll benefit. I feel if a casino can help people into work great- but it's a shame the capital is having to rely on gambling to improve employment levels. Everything I learnt in Geography at school and forecasted to take place is happening, we in the UK lack in the secondary - manufacturing industries as the work has gone abroad and we have to rely alot on the Tertiary services which i'm ever thankful as both my mum and partner work in these areas so i'd better not grumble, but it's a shame we lack in employment scope to be able to thrive on more interesting challenging areas of work.
So roll your dice, lose your money, get into debt but 2 jags Prescot will be smiling. He's the man who's been in talks to get the casino in motion alongwith an American high roller.
I feel Gunner Midrals- downward spiral of accumulative causation rearing its head and biting us all on the rear...

It's kind of alarming that that very thing is happening in all kinds of places.

Basically as fewer people smoke now the government is trying to recoup the tax they have lost on low cigarette sales. There are hoping that gambling will become our new vice and they can collect all the lovely tax on our losses !
