Well that's the idea i'm supposed to project along with a gushing smile.
When asked how are you? We are to say Fantastic even if we're feeling like death warmed up and having a downer. The fish philosophy has messed with our minds or maybe tinkled with it slightly. We watched a funny video on a Fish market in Seattle US, maybe you've been there. Mainly guys entertaining each other over lobster pots, their customers go away with a smile and the workers throw fish at each other all day. People in my company now want to go over there and have that kind of job!
Basically we're to be kind and polite to each other to make the day go nicely along. For the converted it was nice to meet new folks at the company and maybe for the more miserable ones they may change a little, who knows. I got some free food and wine out of it so i'm not complaining.

I say the most important thing to remember in business is to answer the question "How are you?" with any number of synonyms for "Wonderful!"
No other answer is acceptable.

Someone told me you went back for free wine........FIVE TIMES! Was it about drinking like a fish as well?
This all sounds very american to me. Its funny that you mention this because an Italian that I work with doesnt understand why in America when you ask people how they are they always answer, 'I'm fine." She notices that even if people had a crappy morning they will still say they are fine.
mmm 5 glasses, alas I had only 2, didn't think being drunk at work and playing a business game in the afternoon would be a good idea ;-0
