Alas and alac I wasn't able to donate afterall, unfortunately my iron levels weren't high enough to be able to support someone elses lack of blood.
Needed 125mg mine was 121mg.
My good friend Sarah has pointed me in the right direction to eat more leafy geen veg, strawberries, lean red meat and juice. mmmmm like the sound of strawberries.
It was a bit like walking the walk of shame at the donation place though. I had to go to a different table after the first test where if your blood sample doesn't drop within 15 seconds your due for the reject pile. So I moved to the next examination table where the nice nurse tests your blood for iron mg. Meanwhile everyone waiting could see me, I daren't turn round in case I saw someone I knew which was possible as I did this in our local church hall. (where I really wonder how a dusty old place can be that ideal for clinical blood donating) Anyway I'll give it a go next time, it was a let down for myself but atleast I know what I need to do.
Apparently caffine and stress lowers your iron levels. Silly me drank too much tea on the day thinking that was ok but tea is ok after you donate-dohh! the caffine apparently prevents foods from soaking up the iron into your body.
On a lighter note I was pleased to see Reece win Best actress and Semore win for Capote- two faboulous films at the Oscars last night.
Crash was great too but I found it mighty depressing. I like the sound of the Razzies- the awards they give out the day before the Oscars. Apparently TomKat (Tom Cruise) are geting a lot of stick by the press at the moment the poor lurve birds.
