I'm Spartacus!

I saw two films this weekend which brought tears to my eyes. Brokeback Mountain and Spartacus. I love films with men in action, both had all kinds of action going on, its just they both left me feeling an ickle bit sad.

I think Brokeback will go on to win Oscars, I haven't read the book, how does it compare to the film?

I could hardly make out some of Heath's speech as I understood his character to be reserved and lackinig in confidence but I admired both leads performances. They evoked the torment of a love which wasn't allowed to be open, for one thing both characters went on to marry and it wasn't the done thing to be enjoying snails in tough ole Texas during the 60's, 70's.. (the snails came up in Spartacus ;-)

Spartacus was superb, Kirk The Spartacus was heroic in a modest way and his sensitive feelings and love for Jean Simmon's character was beautiful. I tend to enjoy the older movies, for one thing the actors seem to have so much more charisma, but i'll give todays artors a chance for I love going to the flicks. Next on the films agenda are Walk the Line and Geisha.
