A Proper Charlie

Reason to be cheerful-get on down to the theatre!

On the weekend I went with my partner in crime and close friends to see a friend in a show- Charlie's Aunt at our local Playhouse. Our friend was great and he had a pretty big part ;-) ha ha ha on with show. Great acting by all, the humour was spontaneous and you were kept entertained throughout, only a couple of prompts-but it was first night. The guy playing Charlie's Aunt was all cherry faced in a sort of Queen Victoria ensemble, the costumes were terribly dashing and sumptous dresses for the ladies. A good old fashioned comedy piece.

It's good to do something different of a night rather than just sitting around downing the pints and vinos-although I don't knock this activity either ;-) Certainly some colourful characters you get there-it's a community in itself. Some come and go, others stay for life.

Will one day get involved again with the theatricals, I tended to help out alot more back stage but once had a decent part playing the cop in the female version of the Odd Couple. Sometimes wonder how I managed it.

Cheers, it would be useful if I had a car.

It's great that we have the Playhouse here as it's quite a unique place for quite a few amateur groups to stage shows. There is play on nearly every other week of the year so plenty of opportuities for people to get involved and fr the public to enjoy.

Our friend who we saw the other night is always in something-seems he lives in the theatre! I used to be always there too doing backstage help, one of the reasons I got to know the cavy well ;-)
