I weep at the slightest thing... well I was watching a medical programme showing a 10 hour operation on a guy.. he was ok after..phew
and before that I watched a guy try out an alcoholic experiment (he'd been told he was a heavy drinker for having 55 units a week on average- he thought he was an average drinker like most people- a few wines with a meal, a few bevvies with the mates-and he is;- a third of the British population are the same, apparently) we're only supposed to have 3 units a day, so say the medical experts.
So in his earnst to find out if alcohol really is that bad he stumbled upon two twenty something girl-friends in a pub and put them to test (for TV of course). One never drinks and t'other does-that's a coincidence for the programme! Anyway he asked these two to swap for a month and see how they were affected.
The normally teetotal girl had to drink atleast a pint a day for a month, the other went without. Every day they were sent quizzes and brain teasers on their mobile to complete within a time frame.
So after a month, the normally teetotal girl was slightly more red faced, enjoyed clubbing and partying avec drinkies, suffered more from agitated sleep and was slower in responding to her text quizzes and made more errors than the other girl.
The lassy who wasn't allowed to drink wonderful wine, boosey beers did feel more refreshed, and alert on a Monday morning for work, but couldn't face socialising with work colleagues who drink from 4pm on Fridays. That's a shame I thought.
By the way if you're still interested her boyfriend tried and failed at the drinking ban with her, bless.
So after the month their blood pressures and livers were checked again and both were within their 'healthy zones'.
So ok, the girly who was allowed to drink did look happier but she was looking forward to coming off the grog and the t'other girly was keen to have a glass or 3 of wine again.
So after all that they still could'nt really tell you to STOP drinking at once but enjoy in good old fashioned moderation.
happy weekend drinking ;-) glug, glug!

OOppps slipped already, had a sneaky wine at lunch, well it was a mates birthday ;-)
I loved this post. So true and falls into the common sense category. you can do it all! Just don't go over the deep end. When I moved to Quebec I had to practice drinking for a long time before I got the hang of it. (wink)
